C4SSIS: Course Module 1: Identifying your (potential) contributions to AIS strengthening and challenges. Asia, Eastern & Southern Africa clusters: English-speaking session

DeSIRA projects face challenges to contribute to more long-term and sustainable outcomes at the level of national agricultural innovation systems (AIS) in countries, beyond the project duration. This course has been developed to help project leaders and their teams strategically link their action-research activities with the design and deployment of innovation niches, innovation support services, and innovation policies in their countries of intervention. The course consists of five modules that are described here. By attending the first module (Module 1) you will be able to identify follow-up training modules that fit your needs.

Module 1: Identifying your (potential) contributions to AIS strengthening and challenges

• 10-12 am CET: English-speaking session, projects based in Asia and Eastern & Southern Africa
• 3-5 pm CET: French and Spanish speaking session, projects based in Latin America and West Africa

• Module 2: Acting at the level of innovation niches – Approaches and methods to do action-research work for the design and development of innovation niches: researchers’ skills and postures, niche tracking, trajectory analysis, capacity assessment, niche coaching, scaling strategies, etc. This module will start on March 28th, 2023, in two slots from 10:00-12:00 a.m. CET and 3:00-5:00 p.m. CET.
• Module 3: Acting at the level of innovation support services – Approaches and methods to do action-research work for the design and development of innovation support services (ISS): researchers’ skills and postures, ISS mapping, network facilitation, service providers platforms, capacity assessment, organizational coaching, etc. This module will start on April 4th, 2023, in two slots from 10:00-12:00 a.m. CET and 3:00-5:00 p.m. CET.
• Module 4: Acting at the level of policies, institutions and regulatory frameworks – Approaches and methods to make action-research work for the design and development of innovation policies and instruments: researchers’ skills and postures, AIS assessment, policy influence, evidence-based decision-making, policy dialogues, etc. This module will start on April 20th, 2023, in two slots from 10:00-12:00 a.m. CET and 3:00-5:00 p.m. CET.
• Module 5: Conclusive reflexive workshop: refinement of DeSIRA projects’ contributions to AIS strengthening– consolidation of projects’ experience, capacities and learning per geographic DeSIRA clusters. This module will start in September 2023.
