A first exchange between OBSYDYA and the Santés et Territoires project took place on November 24, 2023. This project funded by AFD aims to support the agroecological transition in 4 countries: Senegal, Benin, Laos and Cambodia. The “Santés & Territoires” project adopts a participatory and evolving approach within living labs. In Benin, one of the Living Labs is located around Monnon in the cotton growing area, 50 km east of Ndali. One of the major activities of the project is to set up knowledge sharing tools and information services useful to living lab stakeholders, including the IRC and cotton producers.
The discussion with the S&T project leaders focused on the possible links between the two projects and essentially on the reciprocal contributions of information. Possibly OBSYDYA could provide information on land use in the Monnon living lab – and in particular on areas planted with cotton. In return, the agrarian and territorial diagnostics carried out by S&T in the area could provide knowledge on the production systems (cotton and pastoralism) necessary for the OBSYDYA project. OBSYDYA will study how to integrate the Monnon area into the next 2024 measurement and mapping campaign.
A visit to the IRC, in Parakou, is planned for March 2024.
